Who's Oreste?

Oreste is one of the reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh.
She is not the fastest, which is why she is at the back, but she doesn't care. Especially since she is lucky enough to hear all the comments Santa makes as he brings presents on 25 December.
And they are the most varied and in all the languages of the world.
That is why Oreste has learned so much about the traditions and cultures of each country: common sayings, pronunciations, songs, habits. She is fascinated by human kindness and generosity, but above all, she is greedy for any kind of treat that every child prepares and leaves for Santa Claus.
But she is lazy, very lazy.
Intelligent, curious, she really knows everything. She likes to learn and taste new dishes or new words, traditions, songs...but if she could, she would do it from her warm and cosy stable, munching some fresh carrots.
She loves to help Father Christmas, but how good would it be under a blanket? In fact, she is so happy that Christmas night is only once, once a year.

And do you want to know a curiosity? Her name means just that:

Oreste is actually Ωreste, in Bellow, the reindeer language.
Ω is a special letter that is transcribed in English as ohm and is pronounced similar to home. Reste in Italian means stay.
So ohm -reste, pronounced home -reste: stay home.

The word reste also has an English origin and derives from rest.
So stay home and rest.

Oreste has kindly decided to lend us her name (above all because of its double meaning), her laziness and her wisdom, mixed with our engineering skills and our creativity, to make:

ΩRESTE
the Calendar of the Fest-e.

An unusual advent calendar, virtual but a little special, in which we think, sing, dance, listen, create, play, eat...
To think a little harder and feel closer to each other, even if we are far, far away in the most magical period of the year.
Oreste would like to say she's not conceited; she knows very well that this is not THE calendar. It has been specially designed and tested to complement the one you already have of sweets, teas, games, etc...
Or for those who have created it or bought it for someone else but don't have it for themselves.
Don't you have one? No problem: all you need is a bag of sweets or chocolates and our calendar to remind you to eat one per day!.
Every day, a new thought will appear in a new window, and all you have to do is click and enjoy your chocolate, your herbal tea or your new toy... while you let yourself be surprised by our thoughts.
You can choose what you want to read, listen to, think, do and be surprised.

Oreste's hope, and her holiday calendar's, is just that: this could be a moment of serenity, a space to slow down, a small joy to share, a cuddle to enjoy, a very sweet treat.
Fleeting but intense.
We hope so with all our hearts (and dark circles).

Happy ohm-resting 🤍
